Newport Beach, CA - Today, Assemblywoman Diane Dixon announced she outraised incumbent Democrat Katrina Foley in her race for Orange County’s 5th Supervisorial District. From July 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025, Dixon raised $202,793 while Katrina Foley, the most vulnerable member on the Board of Supervisors, raised only $149,206.
The Dixon for Supervisor campaign is riding a wave of recent support, with her announcing the endorsements of the majority of the Board of Supervisors and the majority of the Mayors in the 5th district.
Dixon’s growing list of endorsements includes:
“I’m grateful for the outpouring of support and the broad coalition that has united to ensure there’s real change for our county,” said Diane Dixon. “The stakes have never been higher for Orange County families, and I’m looking forward to running a strong campaign to ensure voters know that change is coming and that I’ll stand up and fight to address the growing affordability crisis.”
Foley’s low fundraising figures, coupled with her high burn rate - spending nearly $200,000 in 2025 - paints a clear picture that the race is in play.
Dixon currently represents 150,000 voters in the Supervisorial District, which has a strong Republican registration advantage with nearly 22,500 more registered Republicans than Democrats. Dixon’s fundraising prowess, a strong voter Registration advantage and her track record of performing well with Independent voters set up a strong match-up where she could be the first challenger to defeat an incumbent Orange County Supervisor in 24 years.
Orange County’s 5th Supervisorial District encompasses all or parts of the cities of Aliso Viejo, Costa Mesa, Dana Point, Irvine, Laguna Beach, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel, Laguna Woods, Newport Beach, San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano, as well as the unincorporated areas of Coto de Caza, Emerald Bay, Ladera Ranch, Las Flores and Rancho Mission Viejo.

One election in particular stood out as a priority for the Republican Party of Orange County, as they united behind Assemblywoman Diane Dixon in the election for the Orange County Board of Supervisors 5th District.
In their announcement press release, Chairman Will O’Neill stated:
“Every day that Democrat Katrina Foley holds office is a day closer to turning Orange County into Los Angeles. Foley's leftist policies and her online admiration of Gavin Newsom and Joe Biden are out of touch with her conservative district. Assembly Member Diane Dixon brings back common sense and local vision. Dixon will win back the majority on the Orange County Board of Supervisors and protect Orange County.”
It is extremely rare for the Republican party to jump behind a single candidate this early in an election season, a testament to Diane Dixon’s viability as a candidate. The endorsement sends a strong message that Republicans are focused and united in the battle for a Republican majority on the Board of Supervisors.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA -- Assemblywoman Diane Dixon announced today that she will run for the Orange County Board of Supervisors in 2026, taking on incumbent Katrina Foley in the 5th District.
“I have always believed that the government closest to the people is the best government, the one most likely to serve the people’s needs without abusing their pocketbooks,” said Dixon. “On a daily basis the Board of Supervisors has more direct impact on the lives of Orange County’s citizens than does the State Legislature. That’s where I believe I can do the most good.”
As a Supervisor, Dixon vows to fight government corruption, support public safety and protect taxpayers.
“Orange County has suffered from far too many corruption scandals in recent years and we have seen millions of tax dollars meant to help people, diverted for personal use or to advance personal agendas,” said Dixon. “We need to clean up county government and demand accountability.
“My opponent, Katrina Foley, ran on a platform of reducing homelessness and fighting crime, yet homelessness and crime are both higher today than when she took office. It’s time for a new approach and new ideas,” Dixon said.
