About Diane

Proven Leader. Trusted Voice for Orange County.

State Assemblywoman Diane Dixon brings a lifetime of leadership and service to her campaign for the Orange County Board of Supervisors.

After more than three decades as a senior executive at a Fortune 300 company, Diane entered public service to give back to her community and ensure the government worked as efficiently and effectively as the private sector. Dixon served two terms on the Newport Beach City Council and now represents Orange County families in the California State Assembly.

Diane’s life has been guided by the lessons of her upbringing. From her father, she learned the importance of strengthening communities through personal involvement and public service,  duty, honesty, candor and a commitment to hard work. From her mother, she drew strength in empowerment, equality, relentless drive and building relationships. From both parents she learned patriotism, a pioneer spirit, to look at all sides and hard work.  Her upbringing instilled in her a dedication to truth, transparency and public service, while her education and career reinforced her belief in the importance of economic success to build strong communities, leadership to help build successful leaders, and opportunities for all. She believes that authentic leadership means doing what’s right, even when it isn’t easy.

Diane is a results-driven leader known for her fiscal discipline, pragmatic approach, and commitment to accountability. In Newport Beach, as Mayor, she delivered balanced budgets, paid down pension liabilities, and strengthened taxpayer accountability. She cut red tape for small businesses, oversaw major infrastructure projects that were completed on time and under budget, and built strong public-private partnerships that made government more responsive to community needs.

In Sacramento, Diane has been a tireless advocate for public safety, local control, small business and protecting families. She authored Alexandra’s Law to hold repeat fentanyl dealers accountable when their actions lead to tragic deaths, and she has hosted community town halls to raise awareness and save lives. Diane also secured critical funding to protect Orange County’s coastline, expand public access, and invest in pollution control measures that safeguard our environment for future generations. Her experience in securing the passage of 18 bills into law will provide the necessary knowledge and expertise to advocate effectively for Orange County residents and business owners.

As Supervisor, Diane will bring the same proven record to county government. She will fight to streamline permitting and regulations, allowing businesses to grow. She will also advance housing and economic development policies that reflect local priorities and ensure every taxpayer dollar is spent responsibly. She believes government must be accountable, transparent, and focused on solutions that improve the quality of life for every individual living and working in Orange County.

Diane and her husband, Pat, a longtime major crimes prosecutor, have been married for many years, and together they have raised their daughter (a former prosecutor) and are proud grandparents of three boys.
